Nikita Jacob, an advocate at Bombay High Court was accused of being involved in the recent 'Toolkit Case' by Delhi Police. Her lawyer Abhishek Yende submitted an anticipatory bail plea before Justice P.D. Naik for an urgent hearing which is to be heard on February 16.
It was reported that the special cell of Delhi Police had visited Nikita on February 11th but could not question her as they had arrived at her residence in the evening, however, they got her to sign the documents. The special cell had informed Nikita that they would make another visit but the lawyer has reportedly gone into hiding since that day. Delhi Police had then issued a non-bailable warrant against her.
Background
On February 4th Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg had shared a toolkit on Twitter that contained several months old interlined documents that were related to allegedly pro-Khalistan organization, the Poetic Justice Foundation, and stressed negatively impacting. The tweet raised several eyebrows over the genuine of Greta's support for the farmer protests. Greta deleted the 'outdated' toolkit after receiving backlash and proceeded to post an updated toolkit.
According to Delhi Police Greta had deleted the original toolkit on request of Disha Ravi, a 21-year-old climate activist from Bengaluru, Karnataka who was arrested on February 14 by the Cyber Cell Division of Delhi Police for allegedly being the key conspirator in creating and editing the toolkit. Disha is a graduate of Bachelors of Business Administration from Mount Carmel College in Bangalore and is one of the founding members of Fridays for Future-India, a branch of Greta's organization.
As per reports, Disha Ravi and Nikita Jacob had taken part in a video call on Zoom with Mo Dhaliwal, the founder of Poetic Justice Foundation who had previously declared that he was a Khalistan supporter to plan out a trend storm on Twitter ahead of January 26th. They allegedly also discussed how they would agitate a riot on India's Republic Day and decided to contact Greta, Pop Singer Rihanna and Social Media Star Mia Khalifa to gain attention from international media.
