Central Government appointed Justice Sanjay Yadav as the new chief justice of Allahabad High Court effect from April 14, 2021.
The choice comes as the term of the officeholder Chief Justice, Justice Govind Mathur, is set to expire on April 13, 2021, upon his retirement.
law ministry of India issued a notification in which it was stated that
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjay Yadav, senior-most Judge of Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 14th April 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Govind Mathur, Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court".
On August 25, 1986, Justice Sanjay Yadav was selected as Advocate and practicing in the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur. He filled in as the Deputy Advocate General of Madhya Pradesh.
On March 2, 2007, he was raised as Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court and On January 15, 2010, was appointed as a permanent Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
He was designated as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court with impact from October 06, 2019, till November 02, 2019, and from September 30, 2020, till January 2, 2021.
On January 8, 2021, he was sent to Allahabad High Court.
Justice Mathur started his legitimate vocation as a law professional under the steady gaze of the Rajasthan High Court at Jodhpur. He filled in as the Standing Counsel for the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Indian Oil Corporation, Water and Power Consultancy Services, New Delhi.
He likewise functioned as the Standing Counsel for National Teacher's Education Council, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Bhilwara Central Co-usable Bank, Central Bank of India, Thar Anchalik Gramin Bank, and Punjab National Bank.
On November 21, 2017, he was sent to Allahabad High Court to take an oath and act as a Judge.
On October 28, 2018, He was selected for the position of Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. On November 14, 2018, Justice Mathur took oath as Chief justice of Allahabad High Court.
